Radiologic technologists (RT) performing high-risk patient handling tasks frequently, with little or no assistance, are at an increased risk of suffering musculoskeletal injuries. According to the US Department of Labor, RTs are being injured at an overall higher rate compared to other occupations. This article discusses barriers faced when using safe patient handling equipment in radiologic exam rooms and some solutions to those obstacles.
